FATAPAC and involvement in the Legislative Process Works.
Your contributions to the FATAPAC and the time you take to communicate with Legislative leaders works. We proved this yesterday.
Your Membership in FATA allows us to be active in Tallahassee. When you talk about FATA, and we hope you will, be sure and mention how membership does work to protect our industry. The dues you pay help to cover expenses for our Lobbyist, Eric Prutsman and for Paula Raeburn to travel to Tallahassee. We do make a difference. And speaking of making a difference, many thanks to Eric for doing such a superb job for the Association. He has the ears of the legislators and their staff. He makes my trips to Tallahassee very productive. We could not do this without his presence in the Capital.

HB 173 Passes Transportation Committee and the Amendment to SB 1500 Withdrawn
The last minute efforts by you, our members, paid off yesterday when the Amendment to SB 1500 was withdrawn during the Committee Meeting. Even though this was just the first step and the fight would not have been over if it had passed this committee, now that it has been withdrawn, this fight is over for this session.
FATA Executive Director Paula Raeburn and Barry Bratton, Airport Director for Page Field, Ft. Myers, FL testified before the committee. Arguments were presented against the Amendment which would have required the State Aviation Office to set the cost of fuel at airports with only one FBO and also ban ramp fees if an aircraft is there less than 90 minutes. We thank Senator Baker for withdrawing this Amendment that he introduced as a courtesy to Senator Bennett.
This is what our Association can do when we work together. NATA and NBAA both weighed in as well and sent comments to the Committee Members.
Earlier in the day, HB 173 passed unanimously at the Economic Development Policy Committee. Our thanks to Representative Poppell for his continued efforts. There is more work to be done but we are off to a great start. Our thanks to AOPA for their continued support. The AOPA Florida Representative, Nelson Rhodes was present at yesterday's Committee Meeting.
