On Monday, May 17, 2010, you were presented with HB 173. Your signature will bring tourist and business dollars to Florida.
Currently, owners of newly purchased aircraft have limited access to Florida during the first 6 months of ownership. This deprives the State of much needed tourist and business dollars. Signing this bill will allow aircraft to return to Florida during the first 6 months and for the owners to do necessary flight training, or have repairs, alterations, refitting, or modifications performed on their aircraft therefore bringing much needed revenue to our State. The tourist industry will benefit as well.
Aviation in Florida accounts for annual economic activity of $97 billion dollars. Though an impressive amount, the industry is struggling to compete with other states during these difficult economic times. HB 173 will help provide another competitive edge the aviation industry needs to remain productive and to grow.
